Transport Canada Civil Aviation Medical and Marine Medical Examiner

Dr. T. Siu

Dr. Siu began his career as a Flight Surgeon for the Royal Canadian Air Force at CFB Cold Lake flying on the F18 with 410 Squadron. He cared for aviators on multiple airframes (e.g. CF-188, CT-155, CP-140, CH-124) on domestic and international operations. Dr. Siu finished his military medical career as the Fleet Surgeon for the Royal Canadian Navy Canadian Fleet Pacific. He was responsible for the medical care of hundreds of sailors, submariners and divers. 

Dr. Siu is an Associate of the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine

Dr. Ian Kirby

Dr. Kirby Occupational Medicine career began as a Dive Medicine Advance Physician with the Royal Canadian Navy and a Flight Surgeon for the Royal Canadian Air Force deploying on many Domestic and International Operations.  He has completed an Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Fellowship at University California San Diego and is Certified to complete Medical Fitness to Dive Exams for:

  • WorkSafe BC Occupational Divers

  • Other Commerical Diver Certification for:

    • Health Canada, Police/RCMP, DCBC

    • ADCI, IMCA, UHMS, NOAA, CAUSS ACSS

  • DAN Recreational Dive Screening, and

    Patient with Healthcare Nurse

    Nurse Practitioner

    France Murdoch

    France is a licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) with 25 years of primary care experience in Ontario and British Columbia. In her current role with the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre (Pacific), she is responsible for the health and wellbeing of military members, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary health team. A significant part of her work at the Esquimalt Naval Base focuses on ensuring service members are fit for their challenging duties. It is through this clinical work that she has developed an interest in the field of Occupational Medicine.

    Registered Nurse

    Deborah Walker

    Deborah is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience. She worked at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for 15 years before moving to the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre (Pacific) as the Primary Care Nurse/Team Lead for an integrated team of Medical Professionals caring for Military Members. Deborah retired in 2020 from the Base Clinic but has continued to work in the community doing COVID screening, immunizations and Nursing Assessments for Veterans Affairs Canada.

    Flight Surgeon, Family Physician

    Dr. K. Iwaasa

    Former military physician with over 20 years of independent practice experience domestically and internationally. Received formal training in aerospace, underwater and exercise medicine.  Previously civilian aviation medical examiner in MB. Moved to BC this year with extensive experience with examinations and communication for occupational health and safety as well as for Veterans Affairs.

    Where to Find Us

    Victoria Occupational Medicine is a part-time clinic. We rent space from a local family practice in Victoria BC on our clinic days. We will provide our clinic address upon confirmation of the appointment. 

    The clinic that we are using is located near Home Depot on Shelbourne St and McKenzie Ave in Victoria, British Columbia
